Bye bye..

Although it seemed a long time, the end has come. These last two weeks have been wonderful.

When I started studying English, my only motivation was to get a job. But after this time I realized how fascinating is to teach another language. Seeing how children begin to understand and repeat in English. It is a great personal satisfaction.

Now I know that I love to be a English teacher, but still I have to improve to be a very good English teacher.

My sixth week

We have begun the art week and we have made a lot of artistic activities.

We have made experimental activities:

- We painted with beet
- We mixed paint
- We played with flour
- We made ​​sculptures
- We have made a flower with different materials: macaroni, noodles, beans, cookies, etc.

The activities have been developed in English. The children have learned a lot while they had fun experimenting.

My fifth week

This week has been different. I´m so happy with the children and with me. My advices helped me to improve my own work. I have improved my work putting in practice all that I told you the last week. I've noticed that these advices are helpful and they should be performed daily with the children.

In addition, this week, I have shown to the children a new thing: a "felt-board". This item is like a board but it is made with felt. I have made it with felt and cardboard.

The children have liked it a lot. They have learned through it a few words and concepts: big, small, tree, car, girl...

I have notice that when I show a new thing to them, they are more receptive to learn new concepts and words. They pay more attention with new things and we can improve their knowledge easily.

I liked this week!

My fourth week

This week has been a bit chaotic. Several teachers have been sick and I had to replace them. The children have been nervous because they didn't know me.

Also, this week it rained and we couldn't go out to the playground to play. The children were so upset because they wanted to run, to shout, to play outside and that was impossible because it was raining.

On Thursday came the calm, the teachers and the sun came back. The teachers and the children were happy, and the children behaved great. It was a day calm and happy for everyone.

These days I have learned several things:
- I haven't to get nervous about difficult situations. If I do, children will notice it and everything will go wrong.
- I have to remain calm.
- Everybody have bad days. I don´t have to feel guilty about it.
- My attitude influences the behavior of children. If I'm calm and quiet, children will be too. If I'm nervous, children will be more nervous than me.

My third week

My third week

I have started this week a new Unit Topic: Our Body. I have tried to teach body parts trough movements. Children have enjoyed with theese activities.

This week I realized how is important the motivation. It´s so important to consider the motivation in our lessons. I realized that just showing body parts is not enough motivating for children. So I invented songs and rythms with body parts. I could see how children smiled, their energy grow and how they were involucrated in the activity.

This was so motivating for them and for me...

My second week

This week, we have celebrated Carnival. During these days, I have work with the children this theme and we have made a big drawing clown.

I have surprised how doing the same thing in different classes, children can give a response and do things totally different and interesant.

I have realized that with oldest children I have to do the activity in smallest groups, because if I make the drawing with all children, this will be a caothic activity. I tried to do the same activity in smallest groups and it was so good.

This week I have learned that I have to think before to do the activities, how the children are going to do the activity and what are the problems that they could found.

I loved the Carnival Party. The teachers and children were dressed up about animals. The children was enjoyed the party, we sang a lot of songs, we danced and we ate sweets.

My first week

Today has been the end of my first week, and strangely today has been holiday! These days have been good but a little chaotics. A few teachers have been sick and it has had more movement in the school.

2-3 years old
The activities that I have developed in these days have been an evaluation, because it has been the end of the Unit. Almost all children have known all flashcards and have recognized the blue colour through discrimination of this colour.

I liked how children have adquired the knowledge that I have shown them, but I feel the pupils was distracted while I evaluated other pupils. This could change if I change the way to evaluate. If I evaluate some pupils, the others could do other things such as manipulating, playing...

1-2 years old
The activities that I have developed with this children have been through manipulation of winter clothes, playing with a scarf and hat, manipulating blue things...

I´m amazed how children so small can understood all that I say them in English. In fact, they learn a lot of things in this language. I only have to speak with them in English, I have to show them things and, inmediately, to say their names in English and later, they can recognize them. I´m impressed with it. Before, I couldn´t believe that anyone could teach english to children who are 1 or 2 years old, but now I´m doing it.

I´m so happy!
